Sixth generation Porsche 911 (997), 2004–2012

Driving in its most beautiful form – six decades of the #Porsche 911.

Let’s have a closer look at the sixth generation of our Porsche 911

In July 2004, #Porsche presented the sixth-generation 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S, known internally as the 997.

An important visual difference from its predecessor were the oval, clear-glass front headlights with auxiliary lights in the front end, which again recalled traditional 911 design cues.

The curved wings were another striking feature. Porsche redesigned the chassis, which was delivered with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard in the Carrera S, and significantly expanded the model range.

Apart from the roof, every visible body part of the 997 differed from that of the 996. The entire underbody was clad in trim in all Carrera models, improving the drag coefficient. The flexural and torsional stiffness was increased, and the PASM active chassis added driving comfort without compromising performance.
